This is a ravishing and usual Antique c1840-50, rich colour 18ct gold 'fine' jewellery piece depicting a coiled snake. Interestingly and amusingly the snake's head is 'articulated' being separated on a link droplet. This beautiful piece has been expertly and carefully crafted in 18ct gold with intricate filigree wire work design on the snakes back and furthermore adorned with 9 of the prettiest pinky shade of garnets, that twinkle gloriously in the light.
Being a passionate kind of theme (see explanation below), I decided to choose a pretty antique 9ct gentle rose gold 'Lovers Knot' chain to couple with this exotic delight. 'Lovers Knot' chain has an intricately entwined link, which I thought set of the snakes curves and assets perfecly. Furthermore, I have added an extra ring into the chain, enabling it to be worn a either 18 inches or 17 inches in length.
The use of Snakes in Jewellery Making:
Jewellery featuring snakes has been worn and adored by many ancient and modern civilizations. ... As snakes shed their skin through sloughing, they are symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing. The ouroboros is a symbol of eternity andcontinual renewal of life. Some believe that the serpent represents sexual desire.
On the whole a beautiful and sexy piece to add to your 'forever heirloom jewellery' collect. Wear alone or layer it up with any of my longer length necklaces.
Necklace length from end to end: 18 inches - can also be worn at 17 inches
Snake: 4.2cm x 4cm (including head droplet)
This is a quirky one-of-a-kind heirloom piece, bringing the wearer an item of jewellery as exclusive and individual as them. The perfect keepsake or gift to celebrate life's milestone occasions or just life!
