This adorable and sweet Victorian silver and turquoise 'fine' jewellery necklace has a beautiful silver swallow bird carrying a turquoise heart (previously a brooch).
There is exquisite detail and craftmanship in the feathers. The piece has a wonderful aged patina.
I have coupled this antique piece with a brand new silver trace chain. The necklace fastens to the back of the neck and has the added advantage of being above to be fastened at 2 different fastening positions (see below).
Swallows mate for life and therefore symbolise love and faithfulness. Swallow jewellery was often given as a romantic token in the Victorian era. Turquoise is a symbol of friendship and good fortune.
