This stunning, collectible antique jewellery piece has been created using a bold and beautifully crafted Victorian black onyx and 'reverse intaglio'* crystal floral mourning /photo locket (previously a brooch). The beautiul craftsmanship is breathtakin; being an image of a vase of deliciously coloured blooms.  Between the 2 frames sits a border of black onyx.  
 
The fancy rose gold outer frame of the locket has been tested as 'at least' 9ct gold with the centre frame which encloses the glass cabachon being pinchbeck.  There is a glass lense to the reverse where a photo or lock of hair would have been placed. 
 
The piece is in wonderful condition for its age and has a smooth glossy finish.  The colour palette is just gorgeous being dramatic, muted and mellow.  These colours are so on trend in present day proving that quality has no time restrants and as desirable now as it was 100 years or more ago. 
 
I have coupled the locket with pretty 9ct gentle rose gold Victorian Guard chain that has torpedo shaped faceted beads interspaced along its length.  I have included in the design a central chain drop, from which suspends an antique rose gold T bar finial.  Which grounds and sets the stage perfectly for this dramatic piece. 
 
The chain fastens to the back of the neck by way of a bolt ring fastener and has the added advantage of being able to be worn at 2 different lengths, as I have inserted 2 jump rings along the length of the chain, to fasten to suit your neckline or mood. See measurements below:
 
A Little Bit of Jewellery Trivia:  
*Reverse intaglio:  A reverse crystal intaglio is a rock crystal cabochon with an intaglio carved into the flat back (instead of the top as done previously.) The intaglio was also painted realistically with oils so, that when viewed through the top, the image appears three-dimensional.
